Robert Nordtome came into the Flathead in 1888 with his wife and son, Andrew, where he procured the N E quarter, Sec 2, Township 28 E and 28 W by buying the homestead rights at ta few dollars per acre. He also filed a homestead in the old Sparks school district. He was a fine carpenter,building houses and a barn that now stands on that land.

Obituary: Robert Nordtome
Robert Nordtome was born in Norway, December 9, 1863, and passed away at his home in Kalispell, April 19, 1936. He came to this country at the age of 18 years and settled first in Wisconsin, later in Minneapolis, and came to Montana in 1888. He pre-empted a tract of land three miles from where the city of Kalispell now stands and is entitled to the honor of those early pioneers who were instrumental in building this now prosperous community.
Mr. Nordtome was married in Minneapolis to Carrie Sneen and to them were born seven children. Albert, who died in infancy, Andy, Clarence, Edward, Mrs. Schmauch, and Mrs. Phillips, all of Kalispell, and Mrs. Feurt, of Portland, Oregon. His wife passed away in 1910. He married again in 1914 and to this union three children were born, Melford, Clifford, and Irene.
Mr. Nordtome was the last surviving member of the Scandanavian M.E. church and he helped found and build the church in the early days.
He leaves to mourn his death six sons, four daughters, and ten grandchildren, besides a host of neighbors and friends.

Inga E. Nordtome, 87, died Friday in Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Bigfork, where she had lived the past 18 months. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., 19 Aug 1886, daughter of Mens and Karen Nordtome.Mrs. Nordtome moved with her family when she was five to Missoula by train, stagecoach to Flathead Lake, and by boat and stagecoach to ten miles north of Kalispell where the family homesteaded. She attended Sparks school.
She married Robert Nordtome Aug. 27, 1914, in Great Falls. He was a farmer and dairyman.He had the first milk route in Kalispell.He died in 1936.
Mrs. Nordtome was a member of the Central Bible Church and a former member of the Farm Women's Market.
Surviving are two sons, Melford and Clifford, Kalispell; three stepsons, Andy, Clarence, and Edward, all of Kalispell; a stepdaughter, Alma Feurt, Oroville, Calif.; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-granchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, two sisters, a daughter, and two stepdaughters.
